For ages 8-12 years entering grades 3-6 in the Fall Teachers: Noelani Morris and Chris Wilson
Our class is designed to study Art and Architecture from Around the World. We have many enriching activities, projects and experiences planned for our “Studio” full of creative building materials. This year we will explore the art, architecture, and cultures of Egypt and New York City. This class celebrates some of the most amazing architecture and art of the world. By studying and recreating some of these art styles and structures, students will gain an appreciation of history and other cultures.
Areas we will cover include:
Egypt- Great Pyramids, Valley of the Kings, mummies, the Nile River, mythology, hieroglyphics
New York City– landmark building and bridges, art deco, Chrysler Building, MOMA, Guggenheim Museum, Empire State Building, Grand Central Terminal
Our final week we will finish projects from both countries and have a museum to share what we have learned. We will paint, build, read, plan, explore, collaborate, discover and create throughout the four weeks of the Summer Program.
